TDM Digital Signage supports Android devices, this can be Sony Bravia, Philips D-Line or any Android player. The installation method used for your device can be different, this manual explains how TDM Digital Signage can be configured for the Sony Bravia Android 8 display.

Requirements

If you want to install and use the TDM application on a Sony Bravia screen you need to meet the following requirements:

• Have administrator access to the TDM designer
• Have a Sony Bravia display running Android 8

How To retrieve my HTML5 license from the designer

1. Please login to the designer with an administrator account: https://designer.tdmsignage.com 
   
   
2. After successfully logging in you will be re-directed to the dashboard, on the dashboard please select “Administration”.
   
3. Please open the tab called “Licenses”.
   
4. From this overview you find your license key. Please select “Show player URL” to see the license key.
   
   
   
5. Please note that you only have to fill in the last eight characters of the URL into the TDM Android Player. In the example from below this is “xxxxxxxx” marked in red.
   

How To configure the Sony Bravia with TDM Digital Signage

1. Start the Hotel/Pro mode, this can be done by executing the following button combination. The buttons must be pressed consecutively and not all at the same time.
   i+  > mute > vol+ > home
   
   In case the buttons are pressed correctly the Bravia will automatically be rebooted and a blue bar will be shown at the top of the display.
   
   
2. Once the Bravia has rebooted go to Settings > Power > ECO
   
   
3.  Select Idle TV standby to “off”
   
   
4. Go to Settings > Network > Home Network Setup > IP control
   
   
5. Set Authentication to “None”
   
   
6. Set Simple IP control to “On”
   
   
7. Now we can continue with the installation of the TDM Android application, there are multiple ways of installing the application. The most common way for Sony Bravia is by downloading the application from the Google Play Store. Please see the article called ‘How To install the TDM Android Player application’ for the other options. In this manual we will use the Google Play Store.
   
   
8. Go to the ‘Google Play Store’.
   
   
   
9. Create or login with your Google account.
   
   
10. In the store, use the search function to search for “TDM Signage Native app”.
    
    
11. Select the application and download it onto your device. Once the download has finished you can select “Open” to open the TDM Android Player.
    
    
12. Enter the license code which can be found in the designer. In case you have not retrieved this yet, please follow the steps described on the previous page. Once you have entered the license code the device will be added into your account, from the designer you can assign a presentation to your device.
    
    
13. Now we can continue and configure ‘Pro Mode’, this mode has limited options and will disable a lot of features. This to prevent that anything can be changed by passing people with remote controls or phones. We need to configure this mode so TDM will be allowed to be started together with the ability of powering on/off your display.
    
    
14. Go to Settings > Pro Settings > Developer Options
    
    
15. Enable ‘Power state control by apps’
    
    
16. Select Settings > Pro Settings > Apps
    
    
17. Enable ‘TDM Android Player’
    
    
18. Start Pro mode: Settings Pro Settings > Start Pro Mode The display will reboot and after the reboot TDM should be started automatically.

Now you have successfully configured your Sony Bravia for usage of the TDM Android Player. Now you can assign a presentation to your device from the designer.
