Introduction
TDM Digital Signage supports Android devices, this can be Sony Bravia, Philips D-Line or any Android player. The installation method used for your device can be different, this manual explains how TDM Digital Signage can be configured for the Philips D-Line display.
Requirements
If you want to install and use the TDM app on a Philips screen you need to meet the following requirements:
- Have administrator access to the TDM designer
- Have a Philips Display running Android 7 or higher
How to retrieve my HTML5 license from the designer
- Please login to the designer with an administrator account: https://designer.tdmsignage.com
- After successfully logging in you will be re-directed to the dashboard, on the dashboard please select “Administration”.
- Please open the tab called “Licenses”.
- From this overview you find your license key. Please select “Show player URL” to see the license key.
- Please note that you only have to fill in the last eight characters of the URL into the TDM Android Player. In the example from below this is “xxxxxxxx” marked in red.
How to retrieve the latest version of the TDM Android Player
- First, we need to download the .APK file. This is available in the designer. Please select: Administration > Downloads
- Please select the “TDM Native Android Player”, once this is selected the APK file will be downloaded.
- Copy the .APK to a USB stick.
How To configure the Philips D-Line display with TDM Digital Signage
- Power on your Philips device
- Select the language in which to proceed (press 'Start' to continue)
- Choose either Ethernet (wired) or Wireless network connection (press 'Next' to continue)
- Select 'Finish' to return to the Source menu
- Insert the USB storage device containing the TDM Android app (which must be extracted to the root of the USB storage device)
- Using your remote control, press Home, 1,8,8,8 (If asked for a password, the default is 1,2,3,4)
- Within the Admin Mode menu, select Apps
- Navigate to the File Manager (and select 'Open')
- Navigate to the MNT Folder (and select 'Open')
- Navigate to the usb_storage folder (and select 'Open')
- Open the TDM Android app (select ‘Open’)
- Select ‘Install’
- Once the app has installed, select 'Done'
- Use the return key on your remote control to return to the Admin Menu
- Navigate to Settings (select 'Open')
- Select Signage Display
- Select Custom App
- Select the TDM android app
- Select Save
- Select Signage Display/Digital Signage -> Server Settings
- Enable ADB over network by ticking the box
- Now we can continue to configure your time zone settings
- Navigate back to settings
- Go to Date and Time settings
- Check that the correct time zone is set for your player
- Press the Home button on the remote
- Navigate to Advanced Configuration
- Select Date and Time
- Select Daylight saving time
- Ensure that the daylight-saving time settings are correct for your time zone
- The final setting is regarding the ability to power on/off your display with TV schedules configured in TDM, the following setting is required for this functionality to work: Select “Home” and go to: Advanced options -> Power save -> Enable mode 4
Now you have successfully configured your Philips D-Line display for usage of the TDM Android Player.
