Introduction
With version 4.4 of TDM Digital Signage it is possible to use the TDM player as your screensaver. This will make it possible to display custom content on all the workstations within your company when they are not in use. The screensaver player has support for all elements and this means there are no restrictions regarding content usage in comparison to normal Signage.
The screensaver player works with a pushing mechanism. This means that the screensaver player will not connect to the TDM platform to check if any updated content is available. This is to limit the network traffic generated by the screensaver players.
This manual will explain how the screensaver player can be configured and how you can push content to your screensaver player.
Requirements
If you want to configure the screensaver player in the designer you need to meet the following requirements:
- Have administrator access to the TDM designer
How To configure the screensaver player in the designer
In this section we explain how the screensaver player can be configured and how you can push content to your screensaver. Please note that version 4.4 or above is required in case you want to use the screensaver player.
- Login to the designer with an administrator account: https://designer.tdmsignage.com
- Once logged in select: Player Overview
- In the tab ‘Players’ you will find all the signage players. In the tab ‘Screensaver Players’ you will find all your screensaver players. Open the tab ‘Screensaver players’.
- On the left side you will find the screensaver players, on the right side you can see and create groups.
- You can link a device to a group by selecting the device and choose the group from the drop-down menu.
- To assign a presentation to your screensaver player we need to open: Content Creation > Presentations.
- Select the presentation you want to assign to your screensaver player.
- On the right side you can add a player to the presentation.
- By default, Signage players will be shown. To see the screensaver players, tick the box called ‘Screensavers’. You can also add a group to a presentation. In case this is done all players assigned to that group will show the presentation.
- Last thing left to do is pushing content to your screensaver player. This can be done from the player overview. Open the ‘Config Panel’ and then select the ‘Screensaver Players’ tab.
- Behind each player/group you will find a ‘Push Content’ button. Once this button is pressed the screensaver player will get a notification that updated content is ready to be downloaded. The screensaver player will download the updated content once it becomes active again.
You have successfully configured your screensaver player.
