- Have a Sony Bravia display running Android 8 or higher
- Have an active player licenses within your TDM5 account.
- (Additional) Have access to the Google Play Store.
- (Additional) Have an USB stick with the TDM Android Player APK file on it.
How To configure a Sony Bravia with TDM5
- Start the Hotel/Pro mode, this can be done by executing the following button combination. The buttons must be pressed consecutively and not all at the same time.
i+ > mute > vol+ > home
In case the buttons are pressed correctly the Bravia will automatically be rebooted and a blue bar will be shown at the top of the display.
- Once the Bravia has rebooted go to Settings > System > Power and Energy.
- Select Idle TV standby to “off”.
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Home Network Setup > IP control.
- Set Authentication to “None”.
- Set Simple IP control to “On”.
- Now we can continue with the installation of the TDM Player for Android, there are multiple ways of installing the application. The most common way for Sony Bravia is downloading the application from the Google Play Store.
Please check the article named ‘How To install the TDM Android Player application’ for the other options. In this manual we will use the Google Play Store.
- Go to the ‘Google Play Store’.
- Create or login with your Google account.
- In the store, use the search function to search for “TDM5”.
- Select the application and download it onto your device.
- After the installation is successful the energy optimization setting needs to be disabled for the TDM5 application. This can be done in the following menu:
Settings > Apps > Special App Access > Energy Optimization > TDM Player for Android > Not Optimized
- After this we can manually start the TDM Player for Android.
It might occur that the application is requesting the ‘Display over other apps’ permission, if this happens please enable the permission for the application. This permission is required to be able to start the application automatically after a reboot. After this the player can be linked to your account by scanning the QR code and following the process.
- Now we can continue and configure ‘Pro Mode’, this is a limited mode which will disable a lot of features. This to prevent that anything can be changed with the remote or by phone.
We need to configure this mode so TDM5 will be allowed to be started together with the ability of powering on/off your display.
- Go to Settings > Pro Settings > Developer Options
- Enable ‘Power state control by apps’
- Select Settings > Pro Settings > Apps
- Allow the TDM5 application named 'TDM Player for Android'.
- Additionally you can choose to enable Bravia Web Control, with this function it is possible to change certain settings remotely when you are connected to the same network.
To enable this function please visit the following website:

- Now we can start Pro mode: Settings > Pro Settings > Start Pro Mode
The display will reboot and after the reboot the TDM5 application should be started automatically.
Now you have successfully configured your Sony Bravia for usage with TDM5.
