Introduction

With the release of TDM5.1 it is possible to migrate your content from TDM4 to TDM5. Next to migrating your content some other steps are required as well. This manual contains an overview of these steps together with an explanation how this can be achieved.

Requirements

If you want to migrate from TDM4 to TDM5 you need to meet the following requirements:

• Have administrator access to your TDM5 environment
• Have administrator access to your TDM4 environment
• Have the ability to prepare your network for TDM5
• Have access to your players to uninstall the TDM4 application and install the TDM5 application

How to migrate from TDM4 to TDM5

1. Creating a TDM5 account
You need a TDM5 account to be able to migrate, a TDM5 account can be created through the following URL: https://tdm5.tdmsignage.com/freetrial

During the process you will be asked which TDM5 subscription you would like to use.

It is always possible to upgrade/downgrade your subscription or order additional modules. 
After creating the account, you will receive two demo licenses which are valid for 30 days.


 

2. Importing content from TDM4 to TDM5
The second step is importing your TDM4 content.

It’s good to know that the content will continue to work in TDM4 after the import to TDM5. This will give you the ability to test TDM5. The import tool can be used multiple times, so any forgotten content can always be transferred later on.


3. Preparing the network for TDM5
There are some additional ports required to be able to use TDM5. More details regarding the network requirements can be found in this knowledge base article:

4. Migrating the devices
Once the network has been prepared we can continue with the migration of the devices.
Please note that the demo account is limited to two licenses which are valid for 30 days. 
In case you would like to migrate more devices please continue with step 5 which explains how the licenses can be ordered. 
 
To migrate a device it is required to uninstall the TDM4 application from the device and replacing it with the TDM5 application. 

TDM5 supports multiple operating systems, because of this the installation instructions could be different depending on your operating system. Below an overview of the most used manuals:

5. Purchasing TDM5 Licenses
You can use the trial period to test TDM5, once you definitely want to make the switch to TDM5 you can contact your reseller. 

Your reseller can give you more information regarding the purchase of the licenses. You will receive a payback in case you have active TDM4 licenses. The amount depends on the end date of your licenses.
