TDM5 - How to Migrate from TDM4 to TDM5
Introduction
With the release of TDM5.1, you can migrate your content from TDM4 to TDM5. Besides migrating your content, a few additional steps are required. This manual gives an overview of these steps and explains how to complete them.
Requirements
To migrate from TDM4 to TDM5 you need to meet the following requirements:
- Have administrator access to your TDM5 environment
- Have administrator access to your TDM4 environment
- The ability to prepare your network for TDM5
- Access to your players in order to uninstall the TDM4 application and install the TDM5 application
How to migrate from TDM4 to TDM5
1. Creating a TDM5 account
You need a TDM5 account to start the migration. A TDM5 account can be created via the following URL:

During the process, you will be asked which TDM5 subscription you would like to use. More information about the subscriptions can be found on our website or knowledge base:

You can always upgrade or downgrade your subscription or order additional modules.
After creating the account, you will receive two demo licenses that are valid for 30 days.
2. Importing content from TDM4 to TDM5
The second step is to import your TDM4 content. A guide for this is available in our knowledge base: TDM5 - How To import TDM4 content to TDM5 – TDM Digital Signage
The imported content will continue to work in TDM4, allowing you to test TDM5 safely.
The import tool can be used multiple times, so any missed content can be transferred later on.
3. Preparing the network for TDM5
Some additional ports are required to use TDM5. More details about the network requirements can be found in this knowledge base article: TDM5 - Network requirements – TDM Digital Signage
4. Migrating the devices
Once the network is prepared, you can continue with migrating the devices.
Please note that the demo account is limited to two licenses, valid for 30 days.
If you want to migrate more devices, please continue with step 5 to learn how to order licenses.
To migrate a device, uninstall the TDM4 application and replace it with the TDM5 application.

5. Purchasing TDM5 Licenses
You can use the trial period to test TDM5. Once you decide to switch fully, please contact your reseller.
Your reseller can provide more information about purchasing licenses.
If you still have active TDM4 licenses, you will receive a payback. The amount depends on the remaining time of your licenses.
